a fundraiser for the Mildura Writers Festival

In April 2016, the Mildura Writers Festival committee hosted a rustic, experiential dinner under the stars, smack bang in the middle of a saltpan.

Seated at long tables surrounded by mountains of salt, a three-course dinner cooked by Stefano de Pieri was accompanied by locally produced Mildura Brewery Beer and Chalmers wines.

Stefano served lip-smacking food of great simplicity including Zeppola, Porchetta salad with rocket and parmesan, Roasted capsicum with anchovies and garlic, Poached Salt bush lamb on preserved lemon mash and Organic goat buttermilk dessert with grapes and almonds.

This dinner was certainly a memorable adventure to share a meal with old and new friends in an unusual location.
